Folk Fest Sunday

The Edmonton Folk Fest was on this weekend, and I ended up getting a ticket from my friend’s sister for yesterday.

I saw some pretty wicked sets (the cool thing about the FF is that there are “workshops” where they group various artists together and you get to see a whole shwack of groups/artists jamming together) and my highlights are as follows:

Heroes

Crooked Still who are amazing musicians and Seth Lakeman who is dreamy as well as talented, and they shared the stage with the very cool Martin Simpson.

Buck 65

Buck 65 is this awesome…I wouldn’t call him hip-hop…artist. Really fantastic and highly visible; we saw him at least three times in various locations not on stage.

Michael Franti and Spearhead

Michael Franti and Spearhead. If you haven’t heard much of their stuff, go get some, and if you get the chance to see them live, do so without hesitation. I haven’t danced that hard or heard such great lyrics in a long, long time. Dude makes the heavens clear.
