Yowza, It’s Been Awhile

I’ve been busy trying (and failing) to get my Level 3 homework done. Here’s a shot of one of the yarns and a sample I had to do using it. It’s 100% bombyx silk cabled yarn, with which I did some Hardanger onto linen embroidery cloth.

Oh, Hi!

It’s been awhile again. I’ve been busy and distracted.
Exciting to me news is I am trying to wear contact lenses. I have been wearing glasses for 18 years and always thought my eyes would be too sensitive for contacts. I do feel them (it’s my first full day wearing them; I tried my first pair [...]

2 Awesome Things That are Completely Unrelated

1. The wind storm yesterday. Knocked two large limbs from one of the trees outside my building and neither landed on the cars beside the tree.

2. Fabric made from spider silk! Thanks to my friend Kitty Black who shared this in Ravelry.

Red Hot Swap Schwag

Red Hot Swap Schwag, originally uploaded by Adelable.
I took part in a swap on Ravelry (have I mentioned recently how much I love Ravelry?) and these items are what I received! That Zauberball yarn is the softest ever! And I can’t wait to get some time to start spinning that tussah silk in the opposite [...]

How to Turn Yourself into a Pepsi ™ Ball

1. Wear blue jeans and a red t-shirt to visit your father who is waiting for a repair to the combine.
2. Look at combine wheel well and wonder if you can fit inside.
3. Insert self in said wheel well and have your father take photo (hence “Daddy Bean” since he took the picture).

2 Things

1. If you’re a local and you love CJSR, it’s their annual FunDrive. If you’re not a local, you can stream it online and come to love it and maybe you’ll want to donate too! My favourite show these days is English Breakfast on Thursday mornings.

I took this photo and saved it to flickr, hence [...]

1905 Mourning Hat

I built the structure out of buckram and wire, covered it with silk and it’s lined with navy viscose lining and striped grosgrain ribbon. I made the flowers out of (sadly) polyester ribbon; there aren’t a lot of sources for silk ribbon in Edmonton.

Finished Socks!

Kai-Mei by Cookie A. (Ravelry Link)

2 skeins of Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino (KPPPM) in colourway P802, purchased at Lettuce Knit for me by my dear friend Raura. I used 2.5 mm needles.
I LOVED making these socks. I did a little modification to the pattern because I wanted to carry on some sort of design [...]
