When I was in grade 9 my art teacher posted signs with a imposing looking character and the slogan “Fluevog is Coming” all over the school.  There was a lot of speculation about what that meant, but only two people knew; our art teacher (who left before I got into grade 10, thus making my getting high school art classes difficult but not impossible) and his student assistant.  This went on for months, and when it was finally revealed that Fluevog was a brand of shoes, I wanted them.  But I could never justify them.

Until today, when I walked into our local fancy/arty shoe shop Gravity Pope and saw a pair I had been eyeing on the website last year some time.  They’re from the Teapot family, and they’re called “Chamomile”.  I picked up the handsome shoes and discovered they were on sale…they were regularly $239, and today they were $99.99 (plus tax).

I tried them on.

And I now own my first pair of Fleuvogs!  Happy early birthday to me, Fluevog has come!

And for a little bit of entertainment, check out the Chrismatrix window display I saw at a local music instrument shop.  It took me awhile to figure it out, but when I did I knew I had to get a photo.

I’m being more proactive in fixing my shoulders; I can’t afford to go to the chiropractor and the massage therapist as often as I would like but I know I’ve got to do something, so I dug out some dumbells I got for Christmas last year and I’m working on my shoulder strength, and I’ve requested some yoga DVDs from the library.  Hopefully these things will help.  I also requested some belly dancing DVDs for the fun of it, but I digress.

I’ve started some more socks (even though I’ve got a few pairs that are still on the go, I’m a starter, not a finisher).

The above is sock number one of the Herringbone Rib Socks.  I oddly don’t have 2.5 mm in circular form…anyway, I’m very much in love with Claudia Hand Paints, the yarn is deliciously squishy and not very splitty.  It’s the Oops! colourway I got in Montreal.

And these are socks for my Dad.  They’re in Sisu yarn which always puts me in mind of The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.  I gave him the balls for Christmas because my back wouldn’t let me get to them, and he laughed pretty hard when I told him they were socks.  I think they’re going to be a quick knit.  I ribbed for an inch on 2.5 mm needles and then switched to 3.0mm needles.

Knowing my cousin’s son (who is almost half my age now, yeesh) is fond of Domo-Kun, I printed off a picture of him and knit him Christmas Day.

This is him on Boxing Day.
