Thanks to everyone who submitted their comments for “You In?”  It gives me warm fuzzies knowing how many of my friends are as concerned about the environment as me (I wasn’t only changing lightbulbs by the way).

Anyway, I’m a bit old-school, no random number generators, just a piece of paper that had nothing on the back, which I tore into bits and named, tossed into a glass, shook for a bit, tossed the slips on the counter and picked up the first piece I could find without looking, and Voila:

Drumroll please.

Sulicat!  I’ll be e-mailing later tonight (I have to get to work, but I knew the suspense would be killing y’all) to get your stats.

Thanks again to everyone, I’m glad to see you care for green.

Don’t forget to turn out your lights at 8:00 Saturday night!

Picture Heavy…

I was at the farm this weekend, so I took pics of some twin calves,

A cow who looks like she’s telling me something important,

A pike who was 55cm so I had to throw him back because the shortest he could be was 63cm,

And a nut-hatch who ran into a window but later flew away.

And then this week I finally bought myself an aquatic frog. His name is Jareth.

There’s still time to enter your name for the chickadee pendant in the “You In?” post…I’ll announce the winner very soon though…

I just wanted to mention that the contest is open for international visitors too; not just continental North America.

SPRING is my favourite season; it makes people and animals all crazy-like, and tomorrow is the first day of Spring in my neck of the woods. I’m dreadfully excited. The weather has been Spring-like for the last few days, my parents called last night and told me that they have 5 calves so far (two sets of twins and a single), and people are showing more skin than they have in recent memory. These are all good things, though I still think it’s a bit ridiculous to wear shorts and a thick jacket…

In honour of my favourite season, I’m holding a little challenge/contest. I challenge you, my readers, to leave a comment on this post by 10:30 P.M. Mountain Standard Time on Wednesday, March 26th, telling me one way that you’re going to make your world a little more green friendly (green for Spring, get it? Yay!). I of course won’t know if you follow through, but I’d like you to seriously consider it. And it can be something small so long as it’s something. I’m going to change the lightbulbs in my apartment to energy efficient ones and only have them on when I’m in the room.

And I encourage you to sign up for this challenge here. Turning your lights out for one hour isn’t that tough, and it would be neat to watch cities dim for an hour each as it crosses the globe.

Once you have left a comment letting me know what your green-goodness is going to be, I’ll enter your name in a draw to win this:

Chickadee-dee

The sister of my original chickadee (with a friendlier eye). Go green!

Achillea and the Bird March 10, 2008

Achillea and the Bird, originally uploaded by Adelable.

I finished my first Achillea on Saturday night, and took a few shots of it yesterday. The best light is in my office, and since our friendly pigeon showed up, I thought I’d get a shot with him and the sock.

And I thought “Achillea and the Bird” was pretty clever. Sometimes I feel smug.

I love the Achillea sock. The pattern is deceptively simple and the lines are beautiful. And of course, I love Trekking XXL. This is knit on 2.5 mm dpns.

I just bought a really fascinating print from this site that I found through the Dabbled blog.  Some of the proceeds go to the artist’s charity of choice, which is something I dig on.

Here’s a link to the print I bought.  Despite the fact I don’t dig on orange…I LOVE this print.  I readily admit to an odd taste in beauty.

I had a wee bit of inspiration right before class last Wednesday, and this is what I came up with.
